DESALINATION -- A VIABLE OPTION?

With recent controversy concerning beneficial use of Colorado River (farming vs. urban) and the need for California to stay within its River allotment, is desalinization a viable option for water supply?  Mr. Peter MacLaggan of the Poseidon Resources Group, will discuss the status of desalinization as a possible water supply.  The dinner/presentation will be preceded by a tour of a demonstration installation.  Come join us to learn more about this potentially endless source of fresh water.  We have invited the Orange County Section of ASME to join us so there will be additional opportunity for networking.

What:          Tour and Dinner Meeting
When:         Tuesday, October 28, 2003 (RE-SCHEDULED TO NOV 4 DUE TO FIRESTORM)
                   Tour—4:00 – 4:45 pm
                   Dinner/Presentation—5:15 – 8:00 pm

REPORT:  Approximately 45 members and guests toured the demonstration project and attended the dinner/presentation.  Mr. MacLaggan's presentation was well received.  We are almost ready to invest in desalination plants!  There were about 20 no-shows.  Not only did they miss learning more about desalination, they also caused a financial drain from your Section treasury.  For those of you unable to attend, you can learn more at Posiedon Resources' website.  And here are some pictures taken at this event:
