TOUR OF CALLAWAY VINEYARD AND WINERY
Callaway Winery was
founded in 1969 by
Ely Callaway, who went on to gain fame and fortune in the world of
golf. Extensive research led Mr. Callaway to Temecula where
he found what he believed to be the perfect spot to plant his
vines.
Known for their award winning Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and
Merlot, Callaway also offers an eclectic array of Special Collection
wines, such as their Viognier, Muscat Canelli, and Dolcetto, as well as
a full line of Winemaker’s Reserve wines. Come for a private guided walking tour
of the winemaking facility, followed by an educational, sit-down tasting of four Callaway wines,
and a casual plated lunch.
Receive a souvenir logo glass and a 20% discount on purchases made in
the Visitors Center. (Note that Callaway wines can only be
purchased at the winery or online.)
The
tour is scheduled
for Friday, September 15,
2006. Please arrive by 10:30 am and allow about 3
hours. This group tour requires a minimum of 12 people. You
must be at least 21 years old to be a taster (be prepared to show valid
identification). Price is $25 per person, plus tax and
gratuity. The lunch is Turkey on Focaccia and includes a dessert
and wine (of course). If you are interested in attending the tour
please email Tom Frankie at
TFrankie@tns.net by Friday, September 1. If the minimum is
not met, the tour will be canceled.
The Callaway Winery is located at 32720 Rancho California Road,
Temecula, 92591. It is approximately 4 miles east of Interstate
15 from the Rancho California Road exit. Visit
here for a map. Estimated driving time from San Diego is
about 1 hour. It is suggested that the Old Town Transit Station
and the Mira Mesa Park-n-Ride may be good locations to meet and to form
carpools.
