TOUR OF ATK SPACE SYSTEMS AND SENSORS
ATK is a leading provider of
advanced weapon and space systems with $3.3 billion in annual sales,
approximately 15,000 employees, and operations in 23 states. The
company is the world’s leading supplier of solid rocket motors and the
nation’s largest manufacturer of ammunition. Part of ATK's
Mission Systems Group, ATK Space Systems and Sensors - San Diego
designs, fabricates, and tests precision composite structures for
aerospace applications. The tour will cover several basic ATK
areas and processes including: raw materials and initial fabrication
(layup, autoclaves & ovens), machining (machine shop &
waterjet), Ceramics and wet chemistry (descriptions only, no
facilities), Testing (test labs), B7 Assembly Area (hardware examples
and final assembly).
The
tour is scheduled
for Wednesday, June 21, 2006, from 5:00 pm (sharp) to ~6:30 pm, for US citizens only.
The facility is located at 9617 Distribution Ave., San Diego,
92121. There is plenty of parking in front of the main
building.
