ASME Central Region Vice-president Dr. Howard Conlon welcomes celebrants to the dedication.


About 50 members and friends of the ASME and Mid-Continent Railway Museum were on had for the ceremonies.


ASME’s William DeFotis reviews the history and significance of the Landmark program.


This permanent bronze plaque was presented by ASME to the Mid-Continent Railway Museum to be appropriately displayed and designate the Montana-Western #31 railcar as an Historical Mechanical Engineering Landmark.


On hand for the dedication ceremonies were representatives of ASME and Mid-Continent Railway Museum.  Shown, left to right, are:  William DeFotis, ASME History & Heritage; Diane Peters, ASME Chicago Section Chair; David Mattoon, ASME Chicago Section Secretary and MCRM member; Fred Biederman, ASME Chicago Section History & Heritage Committee Member and MCRM member; Donald Zweip, ASME Past-president; and Howard Conlon, ASME Central Region Vice-president.


Descendants of the inventor, Dr. Herman Lemp: Lisa Lemp Cheney (great-granddaughter), Dr. Herman Lemp (grandson), and Diana Lemp (great-granddaughter).
