Upcoming Events

On June 8 - 11, the Idaho section of ASME is offering a Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code class on B31.3 - Process Piping. This is an opportunity to take a nationally offered ASME course without having to travel to a not so lovely venue like Houston in the summer.

Announcements

Your executive committee is working hard to provide your section with a program of events and activities to suite the needs of our members. The new committee is finishing up with establishing themselves and looks forward to providing an event filled year.

Some important events coming up are ASME’s 125^th anniversary, Engineers Week, the Region Student Conference at Saint Martin’s College, and a SR-71 presentation from ASME’s Distinguished Lecturer’s program.

One of the changes we are instituting include establishing a set meeting schedule on the second Thursday of each month with exceptions that will be noted in the calendar of events. We already have a line up guest speakers from our section and tours planned starting in January 2005. Check out our calendar of events for more details.

Our job is to serve the needs of our section. Please help us by letting us know what you would like to see happen in your section. Your executive committee looks forward to seeing you at our future events.

ASME launches ‘Communities of Practice’

Want to talk to your peers about technical matters, career and personal interests? Want to do that without going to a meeting or even leaving your desk? 

ASME offers you a new tool to communicate, get the information you need and meet others with similar interests and concerns at the new ASME Communities of Practice site.

OOn the CoP site, you can join a community, suggest a new community, participate in discussions and polls, and post your own message or request to be notified when messages are posted on the community. Its your choice what communities you participate in, and how you choose to participate. 

You will need to register the first time that you use the page, and set your preferences for your home page. It only takes a few moments – then you are ready to participate, or just observe the discussions. To date, there are already 143 communities and approximately 2,200 users. To visit the site, and test the features, go to www.cop.asme.org

Survey

We are considering a professional development course on Geometric Tolerancing, ASME Y14.5.2.  Would you or your fellow colleagues be interested in attending?  A course will be planned depending on the results of this survey.  Please email Scott Carlson at carlsons3@asme.org with potential numbers interested.
