MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR

The tour of Anspach is on May 20.  The last time I toured their facility with the section, they were introducing a new product line.  It will be interesting to see what new surgical tools they’ve come up with.  The joint ASME/SWE picnic is set for June 20th.  We’re still working out the details with SWE (Society of Women Engineers), but the tentative location is Carlin Park, in Jupiter.  Watch for the June e-newsletter for the final details or check the newsletter online.

You’ll see some young officers taking charge in the next program year:  incoming Chair is Dan Belotto, and incoming Vice Chair/Programs Chair is Christopher Lall.  And of course they will have the support of all the familiar faces of the Executive Committee members that you already know!  Congratulations to Dan and Christopher, and many thanks to the outstanding Executive Committee.

I’d like to thank everyone who adheres to the reservation process for section events.  In general, we do very well with the process. Just a reminder about the reservation process: If you make a reservation for one of the section events, you are expected to show up, or notify us in advance if you cannot make it to the event.  Additionally, if you don’t make a reservation, please don’t just show up!  Many of the tours have limits on how many persons are allowed on the tour. Unfortunately, for the E-Week Banquet, five (5) members made reservations and did not show up, which cost the section $250, as we had to pay for these five meals.  This cost represents nearly ten percent of our yearly operating allotment from ASME!

This is the last printed newsletter for this program year.  See you at the next meeting!

Patrick Sheehan, P.E.
