Appreciation Day. This November 4 event in
Houston provides a great opportunity for engineers
and their families to enjoy time together.Engineers play a vital role in many critical industries and projects and must often travel to distant locations to fulfill job duties. I commend the event's sponsors and organizers for providing a time of relaxation and recreation for these dedicated professionals and their loved ones. Bush Families, Engineers, and Students in Technology When/Where: Saturday, March 10, 4 pm - Completion of Live Racing ~ 9:30 pm Sam Houston Race Park's Infield Park The Breeder's Cup is the exciting beginning of Thoroughbred Racing Season. Live racing will begin around 5:30 at conclusion of simulcast racing from Churchill Downs in Kentucky. Check SHRP for actual scedule. North Sam Houston Tollway between Fallbrook and Fairbanks N Houston Houston, TX Advance ticket purchase required. Bring your Family and Guests! Membership Not Required. The SHRP is an excellent place for this event. We will be renting the entire Infield Park for activities, including the evening of live horse racing! The weather should be significantly cooler than our previous August dates, and if harsh weather develops, all attendees can simply move inside the covered pavillion! Last year's story: Engineers' Family Appreciation Day 1999 Engineer's Family Appreciation Day activity is intended to honor all engineering families and provide an opportunity for them to share fun time together. Engineers play a major role as the designers and implementers of the technology that fuels the world. The Texas Gulf Coast prospers from their endeavors. These Engineers work in diverse careers in the Houston economy. They have made major contributions to the development of the petroleum industry and would not have been able to achieve this without the support and encouragement of their families. An objective of the event is to share the proceeds with the hosting organizations to benefit their educational programs such as local Science Fair Special Awarding. EFAD will provide an opportunity to publicize the important role of the engineer in our community. ASME International:
