Senior Mechanical Engineer

Flint Hills Resources is a leading producer and marketer of petrochemicals globally. The
company’s Joliet, Ill., facility, near Chicago, manufactures chemical intermediates, including
purified isophthalic acid, maleic anhydride and trimellitic anhydride.

Position Summary:
* Manage reliability program improvement projects
* Develop equipment strategies that prevent machinery related equipment failures
* Support the reliability area teams with troubleshooting, assessment, scoping, economic
analysis and recommendations that optimize the life cycle value of the equipment in
relation to meeting business objectives
* Provide subject matter expert input, steering, and checking of projects being
implemented at the site for incorporation of sound reliability design principles and life cycle
perspective
* Facilitate Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) of equipment and production issues
* Utilize and leverage cross-site and outside knowledge to opportunities to provide well
engineered solutions
* Fill key shutdown and turnaround field engineering roles on Machinery or Fixed
Equipment issues
* Assist the Capital Project Group in equipment upgrade, new machine acquisition, field
installation and start up

Requirements:
* 3+ years relevant work experience
* Understanding of plant equipment equipment
* Understanding of project execution and control
* Computer literacy, including MS Office Suite, planning software tools, and computerized
maintenance management system
* Petrochemical plant experience
* BS in Engineering, specifically Mechanical, Civil, Materials Science or Metallurgy
