Mechanical Engineer

Flint Hills Resources is a leading producer and marketer of petrochemicals globally. The
company’s Joliet, Ill., facility, near Chicago, manufactures chemical intermediates, including
purified isophthalic acid, maleic anhydride and trimellitic anhydride.

Position Summary:
* Develop reliability strategies for plant equipment (either fixed or rotating equipment)
* Perform Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFAs) to provide actions that will improve system
reliability and prevent recurrence
* Provide technical scopes and engineering field support for projects and turnarounds
* Support the development of the mechanical integrity program
* Ensure regulatory compliance in equipment areas
* Propose and champion projects to increase reliability of the plant equipment
* Manage equipment specifications and standards
* Collaborate cross-site on institutionalizing reliability best practices

Requirements:
* BS in Engineering, specifically Mechanical, Civil, Materials Science or Metallurgy
* Strong project management and leadership skills
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
* Ability to work cross functionally in a team-based reliability environment
* Ability to think and apply reliability life-cycle economic thinking to issues
* Ability to interact and communicate effectively with internal and external customers and
suppliers
