HPV Competition at University of Missouri, Rolla

May 2-4, 2003

 

Winning Sprint Contenders

FAIRFIELD STUDENTS PLACE THIRD IN ASME HPV COMPETITION 2003

Student from the School of Engineering placed third overall in the single rider class in an ASME sponsored Human Powered Vehicle (HPV) competition held at the University of Missouri at Rolla on May 2-4, 2003. The competition involved vehicle design and vehicle sprint (race). Fairfield placed fifth in the design portion with 13 schools competing and placed second in the vehicle sprint competition in a field of twelve. The University of Missouri placed first and the University of Buffalo placed second overall.

Franco Zezima and Robin Krulikowski, members of the student design team(below) and Dr. Rao Dukkipati, Not shown (ASME) Team Adviser. Karin, University of Florida and Ryan, University of Massachusetts Amherst were volunteers helping the Fairfield University team.

Fairfield's HPV entry is second to cross the finish line during the 'sprint' part of the overall competition.
THE HPV DESIGN TEAM: left to right, Robin Krulikowski, Franco Pirri , Steve Carr and Franco Zezima. These students undertook the HPV design effort as their Capstone Project, a academic requirement for a baccalaureate .degree program. Alan Dubrow, faculty coordinator for all capstone projects, congratulates Franco Zezima and Steve Carr two of the four HPV Design Team members on their excellent project.
