Career Planning

The following is quoted from a web page of the Western Society of Engineers:

"Career management involves more than just looking for a job through the usual channels. It also means keeping up with developments in your field as well as with overall professional trends. In order to do that, you need to explore various resources that will keep you abreast of the engineering profession, the ever-widening advances in technology, and the outside influences that impinge on scientific and engineering careers."

Jobs Available

Every day I hear about jobs available for engineers yet often I also hear about engineers who are unemployed or under-employed. It's important for engineers to continuously improve their knowledge and skills by attending business, networking, and/or technical meetings. Also they should read appropriate business and technical magazines to keep up with progressive technology. We especially would like to help members who are unemployed through no fault of their own. We will post position opportunities here when they are provided to us. Sometimes we notify members via email about job opportunities. Management of ASME Chicago is by volunteers who necessarily must have other priorities. Engineers seeking new jobs should visit and use:
http://www.careerbuilder.com/

Also try http://www.asme.org/Jobs/

ASME Chicago gains no revenue from these websites. They are mentioned only because they should be helpful to many of our members as well as others. Careerbuilder is one that sends me notices about jobs seeking engineers on a daily basis.
